As a young man I always had a sensing that something
was not quite right. Is this all there is?(I thought)
About twenty years ago I purchased a book at a used book
store called "The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power" by
Vernon Howard.
I my opinion this is a must read for everyone, and I
mean everyone on the planet. It is a masterpiece of
spiritual teachings. I have read it at least five
times. Please! I am not saying that to brag, its
beyond that. Everytime you read it a new door opens
up in your life. You learn more and more truth and
as a result of that, more truth is revealed to you.
The key here is that you must really want Help!
Not just to be entertained. This information works and
it is the only thing that does. I know personally, from
experience. It's not money. It's not popularity or
recognition. It has nothing to do with the world because
it is above the world. Above thought,feelings,concepts,
language,physical forms,ideas. All this involves thinking.
It is above everything yet it is one with everything.
You see many people would love to get help, start over
again, but only to get away from something. Something
undesirable! Something they have caused but don't want
to admit it. They want to get away from the 'Present
Moment',the undesirable something that is happening
right now...
They want to start life over again with their terms not
the terms of Reality. Reality will not honor our terms.
it is what it is every moment. Eckhart Tolle states that
humanity is trying to get away from the present moment.
Trying to escape it.
Why would humanity want to escape the present moment?
Because the mind made self finds a so-called unfavorable
event that is unfolding in the present moment to be
unacceptable. They say No to what is, NO to the Now. A
sleeping mind is always running away from the Present Moment.
This in turn causes the mind's owner conflict and suffering.
From birth we have been conditioned to believe that we
are a separate personality. Separate from other separate
personalities. We begin to adapt ideas and beliefs from
these people. For example. Our parents,teachers friends,
relatives,etc. We continue to collect this bundle of
data and then we make the ultimate mistake.
We call it I! We identify with this Idea we have of ourselves.
We think we are it.This is the cause of all our troubles.
No need to look at anything else, this is the root cause of
all problems. All caused by a ficticious self, also known
as the ego self,the false self,the little me,the imposter
self.
It all starts with the mind. We all have one. That's one thing
we have in common with every other human being on this planet.
But the mind can be misused by trying to gain an identity.
It lives in time and moves from past to future. It has
its purpose for earthly functions but it is limited.
To the unaware owner,because of his conditioning, the mind
becomes a reaction machine. It becomes mechanical similar to
a machine with a bunch of push buttons. A computer is a good
example. You type in a password on the keyboard and click
login and the computer reacts immediately. Clicking a web
link instantly reacts by taking you to a webpage.
The unaware mind is much like the computer example above.
Some event plays out in front of you that pushes your button,
-personally- and instantly there is a reaction. 99 percent
of the time it is an unconcious reaction. A mechanical
reaction. Like a machine.
